What’s on in 2011

Madrid has more cloudless days than almost any other European city so your vacation here will be very enjoyable. Here are some key attractions points this summer:

1. Festimad 2M

This is one of the most exciting rock festivals, where you can enjoy a live show with new performing artists and watch video screenings at Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid centre.  In respect for the general theme “liberation” celebrating the rising against Napoleon domination the program includes independent artists from a wide variety of genres.

2. Documenta Madrid

This International Festival of Documentary Film takes place in sites all over Madrid and it delights the public with a wide range of main themes: social, cultural, economic, artistic and environmental. There’s the competition side with the following sections: Best National Short and Full-length Films, Documentary Reporting. In the informative one, fans can pick from a display of professional documentaries and film cycles

3. In-Presentable

This festival presents new and unconventional culminating dance movements at evenings. Prior to that, as a pleasant warm up, artists present workshops and lectures. The late dances can take place in very unusual places of the building.

4. Autumn Festival in Spring

 

Festival de Otoño is held every year and it gathers art domains like: music, theatre, dance and circus events all over Madrid giving a full schedule, for all types of fans. Last year, on theatre stage there were productions such as Cheek by Jowl’s of Macbeth, Sweet Nothings, a collaboration by The Young Vic and for music, Spanish and International troupes.

5. ATP World Tour Masters 1000: Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open

 

For sports lovers, ATP Tour Masters is not only a competition, but the ultimate competition, where the best known players strive to become Number One, after all the other challenges have been dealt with. Caja Mágica hosts the tournament and is located in the south of the city. The competition also takes place in North America, Europe, China, London.

6. Madrid International Fashion Week

One of the most notorious fashion exhibitions is hosted at Madrid, twice a year, where collections from young talents and also known artists are being presented on the catwalk. The show is very alive and colorful because innovations from all areas are presented: city and rural clothes, teenage clothes, party clothes, underwear, for both men and women.
