December weather
The cold, cold winter has arrived! December and January are nearly identical when it comes to weather. The tourists are, for the most part, gone for the winter, and the bitter cold is setting in. This weather is perfect for relaxing indoors by a fireplace, or even in a Jacuzzi at your hotel or resort. Always bring extra warm pajamas, as some of the older hotels in Madrid do not offer heat. The nights can be very cold, so make sure that you dress very warmly to keep from getting too cold. Include layering type clothes such as sweaters and scarves in your suitcase.
As for the temperatures, you are looking at the exact same numbers as January, which is relatively cold. In December, you will see highs of 49⁰F (9⁰C), and lows of 36⁰F (2⁰C). As I said before, dress accordingly!
A lot of locals like sipping hot cocoa, and coffee that is offered in trendy cafes throughout Madrid. This is consumed mostly during these cold months, and is said to be some of the best chocolate and coffee beans around. Enjoy!
